little twin?

This image from Post Secret floored me this morning. This girl looks so much like me at that age it's startling, and with her little baby elephant girl arm, I had to look closely to see if someone had found a photo of me. She doesn't have the second tiny finger, or I'd be really wondering if it was me. Reading closer though, I see the present-tense...

Who is this little one? Is this her mother's wish, watching her at age two? Did my mom wish this? Mama, she can be that person inside forever. She'll have harder times as she and her peers age but you'll hold her in your own arms and you'll remind her year after year that she is precious and beautiful and strong. She'll draw strength from any struggles she finds. You'll never tell her anything is out of her reach and nothing will be.

  4. I didn't respond on Post Secret... probably should. It is astounding. I'll have to find a two year old Daisy photo to show off.

  5. Oh, definitely respond. I'm sure her mama would love to know about your happy artsy mama self.

  6. WOW...that is powerful. There's such a conflict between the desire to protect our children from any and all pain...and then the desire for them to learn about life and compassion and differences.
