The Strain, the Sister, and The Swan

The Souster and I had a far too rare brunch date this morning, during which she turned me on to The Strain, a book trilogy by Gillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. I wet myself a little- the guy who created Pan's Labyrinth wrote about vampires? Holy dark yum. My copy is on its way. Can. Not. Fucking. Wait.

So... speaking of dark, gorgeous filmmakers, the only movie I've seen in ages was Black Swan. It shook my gothy little soul into a shimmery ecstasy. Tomorrow I'm attending an Academy Awards viewing party, and feel like I have to take an exam and didn't study. There will be trivia games and Pick the Winners. So- help me cheat, yeah?

Who are your picks?
Help, or I'll have to guess Toy Story 3 or Black Swan for EVERYTHING.

By the way, my dress is very, very delightful and nearly makes up for my lack of time to create a twisted-pretty swan costume. (The party is "Hollywood" dress or costume.) Perhaps for Halloween I'll do the Aronofsky nod.

  1. I predict The Kings Speech takes it all. (I haven't seen it, and it's not my fave, but it's The Academy's style.)

I could give you a longer prediction list, but I'd need a checklist to use.

I don't have Oscar plans this year :(
